Bottle

Designed by Holly Canham | Country: Australia
Louche Absinth is a fictional absinth product, created to appeal to premium spirit buyers. The packaging design was influenced by the bohemian culture during the 19th Century in Paris. The watercolour spot is a link to the writers and artists who were famously known to drink absinth during this time. The bottle is coloured a milky/beige as a reflection of the name ‘Louche’ (being the milky essence that forms in the drinking ritual) as well as giving a ‘secretive’ feel.

(i thought it was milk: leche + love = lovche)

Smoke Alarm In A Bulb!

The Lum is a unique project that looks at making a smoke alarm/detector a useful handy light during an emergency. The idea is thus: Lum is an attachment between the light bulb and its socket. It draws energy from the bulb in its latent state and when the smoke alarm triggers, it produces a sonar alert plus powers the bulb for emergency lighting. In short, during its standby mode, whenever you switch on the light bulb during daily routine, it recharges Lum’s batteries. I find it an efficient solution as a fire alarm.

Tapio Wirkkala

”All materials have their own unwritten laws…
You should never be violent with a material you’re working on, and the designer should aim at being in harmony with his material.”
