Rain Perry: "Beautiful Tree" live at Milligan Center for the Arts

Beautiful Tree, Rain Perry

Beautiful Tree
words by Rain Perry; music by Rain Perry & Mark Hallman

Bent or broken
Its the family tree
Bent or broken
Its the family tree
Each branch a part of a part of me
This is my tree
And Its a beautiful tree

Dwarf or giant
Its the family tree
Dwarf or giant
Its the family tree
Growing just as tall as it was meant to be
This is your tree
And its a beautiful tree

What a beautiful tree

Strong or fragile
Its the family tree
Strong or fragile
Its the family tree
See how the sun shines through the leaves
This is our tree
And its a beautiful tree
What a beautiful tree

Sure, its broken
But Its the family tree
Sure, its broken
But Its the family tree
I can feel the sap running through me
This is my tree
And its a beautiful tree

Museum

A while back i went to this Monet exhibit at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and saw this painting that was so beautiful i almost cried.

Monet Water-lilies (1916-1919)
Fondation Beyeler, Riehen, Basilea.

Falling Water 2004

If you foolishly ignore beauty,
you will soon find yourself without it.
Your life will be impoverished.
But if you invest in beauty,
it will remain with you all the days of your life.

Frank Lloyd Wright

My latest purchases

so last week i went a little crazzzy and ended up buying lots of new things at different stores and from different designers... next time i will try to separate stores and designers...

ah!! that info is actually ON the preview if you are interested in any of the items...
... but the previews will have to do for now...

i should probably also show the results using some of these... hmm some other time... haven't had a chance to use them all yet.

My parents have a B&B and i have been scrapping their online guestbook into a scrapbook for them with pictures... the idea is to give it to them on their wedding anniversary (in August)
I have also just finished scrapping a book for one of my best friends: he wanted his mom to have some of his blog entries on paper... this last one is already finished and being printed... can't wait to see the results...

I'm still new at this blogging thing, and still need to figure out some things...

How to... create dried flower elements for scraping

I asked Designer Digitals how to scan dried flowers so i can use them as elements, here is the answer:

(i will post the results once i have scanned the flowers)

Hi C,

Thanks so much for your note. Your dried flowers sound wonderful and they
will make an excellent page element.

To eliminate the background, I would scan the flowers on a contrasting
background.

Drag the scanned page onto a new document and get the Magic Eraser tool.
Click "contiguous" in the Options bar.

Click on the background to remove it from around the flowers.
You will have to try different "Tolerance" levels in the Options bar to get
it just right and you may need to click on several areas.

After that, get the Eraser tool and erase away any stray pixels that may be
floating around the flowers.

Hope this helps and thanks again for writing!
It was great hearing from you!

Sara
