Found a new blog that looks interesting:

a little example...

Zucchini + Purple Basil Slaw

2 tablespoons mayo (I use vegan mayo)
10-12 purple basil leaves
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon olive oil
splash of white balsamic vinegar
salt & pepper to taste
2 medium zucchini
1 medium carrot

Using a food processor or mini-prep, blend the first six ingredients to make the dressing. Then, using a julienne peeler, break down both the zucchini and the carrot into thin strips. Toss vegetables with the dressing and allow it all to sit for about 10-15 minutes to let the flavors come together. Use this slaw on sandwiches, eggs, polenta, or salad. It is a easy and delicious way to work some raw veggies into your diet.

Vintage Factory Work Table Maple and Steel Industrial Specialty Table

VINTAGE FACTORY WORK TABLE MAPLE AND STEEL INDUSTRIAL SPECIALTY TABLE

This maple and steel factory workbench is a vintage piece of furniture with lots of practical modern uses.  The original steel drawer, sliding lower shelves, and back top shelf make this piece different from others we have found.  All materials are original to the piece, and although this work bench was well used in its past life, it is still in wonderful condition for future use.
Each of the lower shelves slides independently on a steel track for easy retrieval of items placed below.  The unique holes in the top, back shelf were originally created to hold tools of various sizes - part of what adds to the charm of this piece.
This former workbench would be perfect for a home office, server, bar area, or garden potting bench.  It is also perfect for use as extra storage in a pantry.  The table top is 33" high, and the back, top shelf measures 60"wide x 10"deep.  Each lower shelf measures 11"wide x 24"deep.

Deco Modern Hair Salon Sign

DECO MODERN HAIR SALON SIGN

This sign was hung perpendicular to the establishment and is the same on both sides. It consists of a wooden frame with faux marble glass and silver leaf accents. All things considered, it's a miracle that it survived the elements having been exposed for sixty or more years. It came from a salon on 47th street in Baltimore that was demolished in the not to distant past. It is naturally distressed , tons of charm and in sound condition. It retains it's original hooks as well.

MADRID LANDSCAPES

Isabel Fuster

ISABEL FUSTER  “MADRID LANDSCAPES”

Smoke Alarm In A Bulb!

The Lum is a unique project that looks at making a smoke alarm/detector a useful handy light during an emergency. The idea is thus: Lum is an attachment between the light bulb and its socket. It draws energy from the bulb in its latent state and when the smoke alarm triggers, it produces a sonar alert plus powers the bulb for emergency lighting. In short, during its standby mode, whenever you switch on the light bulb during daily routine, it recharges Lum’s batteries. I find it an efficient solution as a fire alarm.
